This temple tour around Kathmandu Valley will be as equally interesting as academic in understanding the everyday routine of the Nepalese people, molded by ancient religion and moral social values. You will visit Pashupatinath Temple, one of the holiest Hindu temples in the world; Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest Buddhist shrines in the world, Swyambhunath and Patan Durbar Square, a perfect living example of co-existence of Buddhism and Hinduism in a country from the medieval age. All of the sites on this tour share the privilege of being UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Pashupatinath Temple is dedicated to the Hindu Lord – Shiva, the God of Destruction, also known as Pashupatinath (Lord of Animals). This temple is, moreover, a final destination for the Hindu devotees of all around the world. Built in around 400 A.D, the temple is located by the holy river Bagmati, decorated within the perfection of ancient arts and crafts. Four of the main gates of the temple are made of silver. Each gate is allocated for the four-faced lingam (phallic symbol of Shiva), which is to express that the blessing of the lord shall spread in all four directions around the world. Pashupatinath Temple is a home for many Hindu Sadhus from all around the world. They are spotted around preference of the temple, with long dreadlock, meditating by the bank of Bagmati river, and occasionally smoking marijuana – as it is believed that Lord Shiva was fond of smoking marijuana in his adobe, Kailash – Sadhus in Pashupatinath are seen impersonating Lord Shiva.
Boudhanath Stupa is one of the holiest sites in Nepal. It envelops an absolute admiration and faith not only from the Buddhist perspective, but Hindus of Nepal also pays their equal respect to this pious Buddhist site. The Stupa is one of the UNESCO world heritages for Nepal and the station where the Stupa stands with the message of peace and love; it used to be an ancient resting point for the Tibetan merchants to Nepal and India, where they would rest and perform their holy prayers. Patan, the oldest of all the three cities of Kathmandu valley. It is the best known for its artistic heritage. It is probably one of the oldest Buddhist City in the world. The city is situated on a plateau across Bagmati River. Another name of Patan, is Lalitpur. The city is surrounded by 4Stupas as 4 corners of Patan, one at each corner of its cardinal points. These stupas are said to have been built by the famous Emperor Ashoka. This is one of the most elegant architectural treasures of which Patan is very proud. About the beauty of Patan, a western lady writer has to say this – “Patan means eternity itself and Patan Durbar Square is the spectacular sight of Asia indeed”. Really it is full of Hindu temples and Buddhist monuments with bronze gateways, guardian deities and wonderful carvings and many visitors come here to see the these monuments. Patan Durbar square is the famous visiting place. The square is full of ancient places, temples, and shrines noted for their exquisite carvings.
Swayambhunath temple is one of the world’s most glorious Buddhist Chaityas. It’s positioned on the top of the west flank of Kathmandu and is one of the most popular, mysterious, and characteristic symbols of Nepal. The temple is popularly known as the monkey temple as large packs of monkeys gather around the temple. The golden spire of Swayambhunath stupa crowns a wooded hillock and offers a fascinating view on Kathmandu city. There are 365 steps leading up to the Temple which is believed to be the self-sreated in the 5th century. The architectural beauty of Swayambunath Temple gives you will fulfil you with a serene and humble feeling. The stupa consists of a dome at the base and a cubical structure with the eyes of Buddha looking to all four directions.
Upon arrival in Kathmandu Airport, you will be greeted and assistance by our Representative. After completing your custom formalities, transfer to Hotel for check-in. Late afternoon, visit Boudhanath Stupa, Evening, attend Aarati at Pashupatinath Temple. Drive back to Hotel. Overnight in Kathmandu Hotel.
After breakfast, visit Jalanarayan Temple (Sleeping Vishnu in the water). Later, you will be visiting Swoyambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple) and Patan Durbar Square and Krishna Temple. Drive back to Hotel. Overnight in Kathmandu Hotel.
Breakfast is at Hotel. Proceed to visit Chandragiri Cable Car (You can see snow mountain from Here). Chandragiri Hill which is situated Situated at an altitude of 2540m height is the picturesque hill station of Kathmandu Valley. 7 km away from the Kathmandu Valley. Rest of the day is free for Shopping . Overnight in Kathmandu Hotel.
After breakfast, free till departure. Later, on time transfer to International Airport for onward destination.
